Comparison of materials

Printing on bedding is a popular way to personalize and decorate. Sublimation printing on polyester and pigment printing on cotton have their own unique features that affect aesthetics, durability and practicality of use. In our store you will find two materials for your photo bedding and each of them has a different printing method, for which we use ecological inks with the OEKO-TEX certificate - "Trust in textiles".

Material comparison

Characteristic

Sublimation printing on polyester bedding:

  • Material: Polyester microfiber, a synthetic fabric that is soft, smooth, and slightly glossy.
  • Printing technique: Sublimation, the ink is embedded into the material and integrates with the fiber.

Pigment printing on cotton bedding:

  • Material: Cotton, a natural fiber that is firmer than microfiber but more breathable.
  • Printing technique: Use of pigments that remain on the surface of the material and are fixed by heat.
Colours

Sublimation printing on polyester bedding:

  • It offers vivid, deep colours with excellent tone reproduction.

Pigment printing on cotton bedding:

  • It consists of more subdued, natural colors that perfectly reflect reality.

Differences in washing and use

Sublimation printing on polyester bedding:

  • Washing: very resistant to rubbing, colors do not fade, even after multiple washings.
  • Usage: Polyester dries quickly and rarely needs ironing.
  • The bedding material is softer and more delicate to the touch, and the print is imperceptible.

Pigment printing on cotton bedding:

  • Washing: Colors may gradually fade after multiple washes, especially at high temperatures. Attention should also be paid to solid colors like black, where there can be a significant difference after washing compared to pastel colors.
  • Usage: Cotton requires more frequent ironing but is more breathable, which is beneficial during sleep.
  • Cotton bedding is firmer than microfiber bedding before the first wash, and the print is slightly noticeable to the touch. Cotton becomes softer after several washes.

How to wash our bedding

Polyester bedding should be washed at low temperatures (30-40 degrees) and delicate settings, we recommend not using bleach.

To maintain maximum color saturation, we recommend washing on delicate settings, at a temperature of 30 degrees with a spin cycle of 400 rpm. Both higher temperatures and increased spin speeds can cause greater wear on the print. We recommend not using bleach.

Cotton before and after the first wash

Delicate settings, temperature 30 degrees with 400 revolutions.

Sublimation printing on polyester bedding is perfect for projects requiring bright and strong colors and long-lasting prints. Pigment printing, on the other hand, works better in projects where the naturalness of colors is a priority.
